a) Technology: the correct use of tools
b) Technology should make life easier and/or help us have fun.

2. Ergonomics
a) Designing objects that help people with their jobs, environment, sports, safety, or anything that involves people. (e.g: keyboard with a wrist rest)

3. System
a) A system is an organized way to achieve a goal.
b) 4 parts to a system:

4. Feedback

4. Trade-off
a) All systems have trade-offs
1. Intended outcomes (e.g: cars are intended to drive)
2. Unintended outcomes (e.g: cars that crash)

5. The difference between science and technology
a) Science: focuses on the natural world.
b) Technology: focuses on the correct uses of tools, making life more easier/fun.

6. Technology also includes inventions and innovations
a) Invention: a new product
b) Innovation: improving an existing product

7. Technology should use resources efficiently
a) The 4 R’s

8. The history of technology
a) Agricultural age: up to the 1700s- people used wooden plows
b) Industrial age: 1700s to 1950s- people had factories and steam engines
c) Information age: 1950s to now- people using computers
· Made the sharing of information faster and more organized
· Sharing information has made inventions and innovations happen faster

9. Current technologies
a) Digital electronics
· Uses binary codes (made up of 0s and 1s)
· Allows us to move a ton of information at one time

10. Resources we use in technology
a) Natural: not man-made resources
b) Synthetic: man-made resources
